It's finally here folks, the countywide wireless upgrade
we've all been hearing about.
It started a couple of years ago, when county and community
leaders and volunteers began a project to upgrade Eastland
County technology by applying for a “TIF” (Texas Infrastructure
Fund) Community Network Grant targeted to bring the most up to
date high speed wireless technologies to Rural Texas.
The countywide effort resulted in a 2.65 million dollar grant to
facilitate the upgrade in Eastland County and thus the RTA was
formed. The RTA, Rural Texas Access, is a non-profit corporation
with a 17-person board administering the project.
Recently, TXOL partnered with the RTA to expand the TXOL
Wireless/DSL Services in Eastland and Cisco to include most all
of Eastland County, adding Rising Star, Gorman, Carbon, and
Ranger. The expansion also broadens the coverage areas for
Eastland and Cisco and will hopefully grow to cover some area
lakes in the future.
In addition, the RTA has made available a number of customer
radio units, (customer equipment required for the service), to
lower up front costs associated with the Wireless/DSL service.
This will be for a limited time and will allow many people the
opportunity to get the service with no radio equipment costs to
them. TXOL has also significantly reduced the installation costs
of these units, which makes it the best time ever to go TXOL
broadband.
TXOL is committed to doing everything possible to get each and
every person interested in this service connected as soon as
possible. Due to high demand, we just kindly ask that you read
and understand the service, and costs associated, before signing
up.
